La Vaguada

The La Vaguada shopping centre was opened in 1983 in the northern part of Madrid, in the Pilar neighbourhood, and was a pioneer in Spain and the centre of reference in Madrid. It is located right next to the exit of the M-30 and M-40 motorways. The lines 7 and 9 of the metro, as well as an extensive network of buses, greatly facilitate access to the shopping centre.

Perfectly in keeping with its natural surroundings, it was comprehensively refurbished in 2003. With a surface area of 85,000 m2, it is made up of three floors of shops and a total of 525 companies, 9 cinema screens and 3,600 parking spaces divided across two floors, with free parking for the first two hours. Children are well catered for with a 1,000 m2 play area. The combination of its offer of shops comprised of international brands and small businesses makes this shopping centre one of the most popular in the capital. It boasts other services which are not common in shopping centres: a tobacconist, a shoemaker, a dentist’s surgery, a pharmacy and even a Post Office.

Always committed to saving energy and concerned about the environment, in 2008 it was presented with the award for the best solar thermal system in the Greater Madrid area.
